What You Can Expect
The national park covers an area of 79.9㎢, stretching over Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. Bukhansan National Park is divided into two areas with Uiryeong Pass in the middle, Bukhansan Mountain to the south and Dobongsan Mountain to the north. The park gives green grandeur to its urban surroundings. It is popular with over 20 million residents within the vicinity and has as many as five million visitors each year. It is accessible from anywhere in the city area and from across the country through Korea’s vast road network. There are more than 1,300 species of flora and fauna and many historical and cultural sites including Bukhansanseong Fortress with over 2,000 years of history, over 100 Buddhist temples and monk’s cells.
This trek brings you to the summit, called 'Baegundae', an immersion into one of Korea’s most famous national parks, Buddhism culture, the most beautiful mountain view and of Seoul city, local cuisine and wellness, all in one day.
We start the day early to hike Bukhansan Mountain and will soon see its majestic granite peaks. Doseonsa Buddhist temple and Baegundae at 836m being its highest peak, are highlights of the iconic sites that can be reached through multiple trailheads which are open every season. The fresh blossoms of spring, glistening green of summer followed by the rustic fauna of the autumn await the millions of visitors that come its way. If you fancy braving white slopes in a day, this is the place for you too.
The trail that will be chosen will be subject to the tour participant’s ability and preference. Although some challenging sections should be expected, the climb would suit most people with a moderate level of fitness.
During the trek, a Korean lunchbox box will be provided and afterwards, there is the option to head to a Korean style spa with sauna and body or foot massage.
All you need to get set for this adventure is sturdy walking shoes, season-relevant outdoor attire and enthusiasm for nature, history and Korean culture.
